Since the beginning of acupuncture, it has been a medicine for "the people": inexpensive, easily accessible, and quiet. Only in the United States has acupuncture become a luxury medicine, with costs of $75-$300 per treatment! Unfortunately, these prices limit frequent treatments to only the wealthy. We have changed the medicine into a private, spa-like experience that takes place in tiny rooms, with plenty of talking. You will find that acupuncture is quite effective with very little talking, because the needles are the medicine. Once they are in, they begin working --no questions or answers needed. By choosing a community style acupuncture treatment, you are eliminating the high prices, but still getting the power of the treatments. Please pay us whatever you feel comfortable with in our $40-$75 scale, keeping in mind that you may need a series of treatments. If the cost of treatment is an issue, please let us know. We want you to be able to get enough treatments so that you notice a difference in your health, and just simply feel better!
We keep costs low and treatments affordable with the community acupuncture model of using an open space setting for treatment. At Boulder Community Acupuncture we have 3 adjoining rooms all open to one another, yet quiet and very restful. Being in the same space with others during treatment may also enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. Some call this the "qi of the community", and both practitioners and clients benefit from this synergistic healing effect.
Sliding Scale
Since the COVID global pandemic, we have had to change the way community-style acupuncture is done. In order for us to continue covering our expenses and providing sliding scale rates, we are asking you to pay $40-$75*. If you are experiencing a financial hardship, please speak with your practitioner to work something out. * Plus a one-time charge of $10.00 for each client on their first appointment.
Cancellations: We require 24 hours advance notice for all cancellations. A $40 cancellation fee will be charged for any last minute cancellations or no-shows. We hope you understand our position. If you cancel last minute, we lose the ability to fill that time slot, and, as a result, are losing income. If you wish to reschedule last minute for an earlier or later time with a different practitioner, we also lose income. If you show up more than 10 minutes late, this will be considered a missed appointment and will be charged accordingly.
We understand that emergencies do come up and are happy to reschedule for you in these circumstances.
When deciding what you pay, we ask that you consider the following: The purpose of our clinic is twofold. We want to provide affordable acupuncture treatments for you so you may come often enough to really get better and stay better AND we want to provide a living wage for our practitioners. We trust you will value receiving treatment and pay what you can afford. If you come in every other week, you may be able to pay $75 per treatment; if you come in twice a week, you may want to pay $40. It is entirely up to you.
Everyone uses a sliding scale at our clinic. We understand that everyone’s situation is different. Some in our community will pay less, others will pay more. If your circumstances change, you may change what you pay --either less or more. It is up to you. There is no income verification required.
Payment: We prefer cash or checks in order to keep our expenses low, but will also accept credit and debit cards. If you need to use a credit card, please consider adding an additional dollar or two to cover our fees. Thank you!
