Acupuncture

All of our acupuncture practitioners are skilled at using acupuncture to address commonly seen health concerns. In addition to gentle needling technique, all may use cupping, gua-sha, and other Oriental medical techniques to enhance your treatment. The page Conditions Treated gives more information on our clinical protocols. If your questions are not answered, please feel free to call us about your individual needs.

Acupuncture Clinic Fees
Our sliding scale for acupuncture is from $20.00 - $40.00 per treatment.*

You decide what you can afford. We offer a sliding scale to all our patients. We want you to come in often enough to really get better and stay better. We understand that everyone’s situation is different. Some in our community will pay less, others will pay more. We trust that you will value receiving treatment and pay what you can afford. Together we sustain the clinic to our mutual benefit.
*There is a one-time paperwork charge of $10.00 for each patient on their first appointment. Charges vary for cosmetic and facial acupuncture.

Nutrition
Dietary therapy is one of the main branches of Chinese medicine, along with acupuncture and herbs. It has long been known that the foundation of health begins with what we put into our bodies. No healing can take place without nutrition to rebuild the body. This is especially true in modern times. In 1988 the former Surgeon General Dr. C. Everett Koop stated that the American diet was the cause of approximately two-thirds of the deaths due to disease in America.

“My over 20 years of practice has shown me that by simply consuming whole, unprocessed foods and using appropriate supplements when needed we may prevent and treat illness. Most patients need individual attention to successfully achieve long-term results. I work with my patients to devise strategies that will be the most effective for their specific condition and temperament.” (Mary Saunders)

Individualized Nutritional Consultations
While nutritional recommendations may be included as part of your acupuncture office visit, it may be necessary to schedule a separate appointment to assess and treat your specific dietary and nutritional needs. These individualized nutritional consultations vary from 15 minutes to one hour.
    Three Week Detoxification Program
We are exposed to thousands of toxic chemicals from our air, water and food supply. We also consume an ever-growing list of toxins including caffeine, over-the-counter medication, alcohol, nicotine, and unhealthy fats. Patients may be burdened by any of the common symptoms of toxicity including headaches, fatigue, joint pains, insomnia, mood changes, weakened immune system, or chronic GI issues.

This program gives you everything you need to detoxify successfully: Supplements, meal replacements, shopping lists, detailed information at each step of the process, and tips from Mary's many years of experience to make it easy. You will be eating nourishing whole foods as well so you will NOT be hungry! You can expect to feel better, sleep well, and have more energy as you proceed on this program.

Individual and group programs are available. Check with Mary for more information.
      Chinese Herb Consultations
Chinese herbs are one of the main branches of traditional Chinese medicine. Taking an herbal formula will enhance the effectiveness of your acupuncture treatments and is often necessary to resolve chronic or difficult health issues. While Chinese herbal medicine may be used by your acupuncture practitioner, it is also possible to have an individualized herbal consultation with Cyndy. Call the clinic for information. There is an herbal pharmacy on site at Boulder Community Acupuncture that is managed by Cyndy Lakowske. BCA has herbs in easy-to-take pills and capsules, as well as powdered herbs to mix with water and drink as a tea.

      Facial Acupuncture
Tanya Rose is at Boulder Community Acupuncture on Saturdays for her specialized facial and cosmetic acupuncture sessions. Collagen reduces in the skin by 30% after the age of 30, but the effects are not seen until we are in our 40’s when lines and wrinkles begin to form. Acupuncture can reverse this process. It has been shown that acupuncture needles, inserted into the skin, stimulate collagen formation, and these “lines” begin to fill in.

What are some benefits of The Ultimate Facial Rejuvenation Program?
      • Elimination of fine lines on the face and reduction of deep wrinkles
      • Tightening of the pores and decreased puffiness around the face
      • Reduction of bags under the eyes and much more!

With the “Mini” Ultimate Facial Rejuvenation Program, one targeted area is chosen for treatment: the eyes, lips, forehead, and neck may be treated. Treatments are 60 minutes.
